Restylane and Perlane are part of a group collectively known as Hyaluronic Acid 'Fillers'. As these products are identical to natural substances in the body it means they are completely natural and safe. As you age the amount of Hyaluronic Acid in the skin decreases. This in turn makes the skin dryer, thinner and wrinkled.

Facial Wrinkle and Fold Smoothing

Restylane is used to fill out or smooth wrinkles, lines or folds on your face that have been created by the loss of Hyaluronic Acid (elasticity) in the skin as you age. By restoring the volume to these areas your skin will look smoother and softer, resulting in a fresher and more youthful appearance.

FAQs

How long does it take for Restylane treatments to work?

The procedure takes about 10-20 minutes and the results are instant.

 

Is there anything I should be careful of after Restylane treatment?

You can carry on life as normal as any redness can be covered with makeup. Leave the treated area alone for 48 hours to let it settle. Facials or Strong sunlight exposure are best avoided for 2-3 days.

 

How long does Restylane treatment last for?

The great results usually last 6-9 months.

 

How often will I need to top up?

Most patients have top-ups when they feel the effect is starting to wear off i.e. any time between 6 and 12 months.

 

Are there any side-effects of Restylane?

After the treatment there may be some redness and minimal swelling, which normally settles in 1-2 days. Very occasionally patients can suffer some bruising at the injection site.

 

Can anyone have Restylane treatments?

Yes unless you are pregnant or breast feeding.

 

What happens if I do not have a Restylane top-up?

Correction of the wrinkles or enhanced lip effect will subside gradually until your skin looks like it did before the treatment.

 

Are there any long-term problems with Restylane treatment?

Not at all, because it is completely natural and over time can be completely broken down by the body.

 

Is Restylane treatment painful?

Not at all, Dr Emily Helm does all the treatments with local anaesthetic which allows the treatment to be pain-free and comfortable.

 

Can it be used with Botox?

Yes, depending on each individual case to achieve the best result, Restylane can be used with Botox.
